Give - Rene J. Dellosa

Here's a poem based on the Bible about caring and sharing from an unknown author. This is relevant in these times where there is so much natural disasters everywhere, hurricanes, tsunamis, typhoons, volcanic eruptions, floods, earthquakes generating so much deaths and sufferings on the survivors. If those were not enough, we also have those man-made disasters like the ethnic cleansing in the Darfur region of Sudan and Somalia, and the civil war in Iraq with unimaginable catastrophic results.

GIVE -Author, Unknown

I do not know how long I'll live
But while I live Lord, Let me Give some comfort to someone in need

By a smile or nod, kind words or deed
And let me do what e'er I can
to ease things for my fellow men
I want naught but to do my part
to lift a tired or weary heart to change folks' frowns to smiles again
And then I will not have lived in vain
And I'll not care how long I'll live
If I can GIVE--and GIVE-
And GIVE

my love to my family and to all of you Frost after 22 years

It is heartening to note that in this world calloused by too much war, diseases, and famine, there are voices though feeble are calling for love, faith and charity.

Let us echo and re-echo those voices throughout the world.

Matthew 7:12 Do for others what you would like them to do for you.

God has compassion for the poor, so if we would be godly, we must have compassion for the poor. compassion that does not reach into our checkbook or onto our "to do" list is philosophical passion, not godly passion. Helping the poor is not merely an obligation but a privilege that should bring us great joy.

Giving is sharing, sharing is giving.
Sharing is kindness, generosity, unselfishness, sacrifice.
It can also be of service, love & care, and helpfulness.

Simple ways to show we care and can share:
- With our positive thoughts,
- With words of kindness,
- With our actions, and
- With material gifts.

Let's ask ourselves, have we done our part? Let's do it NOW!
For tomorrow might be too late.

CORRECTION PLEASE:

Kindly be advised everyone, that I am NOT the author of the poem "Give".
I love the poem and I hope a reader may be able to help identify who the author was.

Thank you.

Just to let you know that I merely submitted the poem "GIVE" because it is so relevant to our times of need specially to those back home.

It is relevant that I must inform you that we have sent already 5 "balikbayan" boxes of food and used clothes the past several months in addition to cash as a limited relief to some destitute
families in Bacon. I consider those donations as merely a dent in the surface of their needs. We need more kind and generous donors. Thank you.

"Giving something to the poor is not only a selfless act but also a worthwhile experience".

A lot of people are worse than us. We see a lot of street children roaming the nook and cranny of the metropolis scrounging for their basic needs, many pin their hopes standing near entrances of churches for small tokens from passersby, we find them too near grocery and bakery stores hoping some " mannas from heaven " will just freely fall, and lots of nomads merely wandering helplessly around.
The other less privileged in life who are mentally and emotionally disturbed are as just as agonizing for one to even see. And still many are so much burdened on how one could live a life.

I thought, at least we still have so much luck in life. A roof over our heads, foods to feed our mouths, clothes to wear and the other basic necessities for the daily living. This made me think of charity. To give hope to the hopeless. And to share what meaningful life is all about.

Hence, I'd like to thank our Tiyo Rene for the initiative in his outreach program. And so much thanks too, to the US-based donors for their benevolent gestures. These splendid acts have, indeed, transformed so much happiness and excitements from the recipients.

Yes, how they have appreciated the stuffs you sent them . On the other hand, I believe and still have so much faith for Philippine-based donors to do a similar selfless act for our "kapamilya & kapuso" (children & senior citizens) of Bacon.
I just hope the rest would follow suit.

Mr. Amado Manduriao, Jr. of Burabod, Bacon, Sorsogon is more than willing to accept donations and distribute them as well. Donations can either be in cash or in kind. For kids, as I see it, need school uniforms, books, shoes, bags and other school supplies. Other stuffs like foods, vitamins/medicines, clothes and the like are top priorities for their basic needs.

As they say - Charity begins at home - my children have started storing-up clothes & school supplies for distribution this coming May or June- just in time for the school opening. Still, this won't be enough as this may be only a tip of the iceberg. However, I would like to enjoin those who have a little of " more " in life to do his/her share in this endeavour. A little of Care & Love can perhaps make a better life for these people.

It is through sharing that we give HOPE to those who have less in life.

As Winston Churchill aptly says, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give".

Very well said, Diane. Thank you.

To all those whp may not know Amado Manduriao, Jr. He is a twice-retired school principal, a 73 year old bachelor, last year's Awardee for Community Service by the Fourth General Alumni Homecoming, Bacon East Central School. Mr. Manduriao, Jr. is an authentic compassionate leader, one of a very precious few whose integrity is flawless. Please trust him with your donations.
Thank you.

Giving stretches from the tangible to the intangible. However, tangible should always be backed up with the intangible since the latter is basically characterized with pure intentions and warmth, free of personal aspirations. The opportunities are enormous; the manifestations, countless; the joy that emanates from it, divine. If only everyone could pause a little each day and think of what we could give and act on it, the world would be a better place.
