Bacon Blog

Thank you for publishing your articles and comments.

This Blog is for us, for all Bacongnons & for anyone interested in heritage, culture, news & issues of our hometown, Bacon.
This is the site to reconnect/find long lost relatives & friends, reminisce & share significant events wherever we may be.

Also, we would like to expand our topics that may somehow relate to Bacon culture/heritage so as not exclude those who have been gone far from home & away so long, and for the new generation who have not seen/lived in Bacon whose parents are Bacongnons and are now finding their roots.

Although there are some Bacongnons w/ large & active families, it does not mean that this Blog is for them alone; this is for all Bacongnons.
Anyone who wants to publish an article or commentary may do so without being a regular contributor. There’s no rule as to length or style. Free speech & expression are encouraged.
As requested, we are leaving the anonymous blogger to some Bacongnons who does not wish to be identified.
Please feel free to answer some of the questions in the comment section. In as much as I would like to answer them all, there will be times when I may not be able to attend to our Blog due to personal commitments or I might not be well informed on the topic being asked, so feel free to answer if you know the topic well.

Personal information will be given out thru email at baconsorsogon@gmail.com after consent has been obtained from the person being asked or he can give it out himself.

Please submit your poetry/verses. We enjoy reading them; they’re my favorites.

We thank you for your support & don’t forget to tell your relatives & friends about our site.

Are you sure this Blog is not politically motivated?

Just my opinion:

This is good because many Bacongnons have been residing outside the place and though maybe not a matter of choice, some are no longer comfortably and conveniently updated of matters of concern to many “cababanuas”. More topics can now be explored since just like any other place, Bacon is subject to practically almost anything of major consequence under the sun, i.e., religion and politics (two most delicate ones), social and civic structures and the environment. It is difficult however, to practically exclude certain areas of thoughts that would obviously have a bearing on one topic being explored. In this regard, we may find religion and politics discussed simultaneously, interchangeably as they may relate to commentaries and observations from the blog’s participants. Should this happen, we should maintain an open mind, professionalism, courtesy and tolerance. We all have to face the fact that life is a combination of the spiritual, political, social and civic aspects. And all these play under the environment in unbelievably interrelated scenarios. To tip toe around a discussion only to avoid being labeled political, spiritually challenged, or anti-social is shortsighted and inhibiting.

How else are we going to try in a faster and larger scope, to unite and link other Bacongnons and inform them more of the past and the present, of the honour and legacies handed down; or decently attempt to gather their opinions in order to form a foundation from which civic engagement can be encouraged for the betterment of Bacon; or to collectively support even in the simplest way those struggling to improve and enhance the place we love, so that the youth of today and the future would continue to cherish the place? Should any attempt to do so be tainted with suspicions of being politically motivated? Should idealism be reduced to mediocrity?
