Latest report

Raul Lee who is running for Governor and his son Bobet Lee who is running for Vice Mayor of Sorsogon City have now merged with Leovic Dioneda camp.

Dioneda who is campaigning for his reelection as Mayor of Sorsogon City had officially made Bobet his running mate.

The above political strategy was made to defeat the opponents for the governorship Solis and Cherry Diaz, and Ramon Guillermo, an independent candidate for provincial governor and Ed Atutubo for the mayorship.

It must also be mentioned that Leovic's son is also running for provincial board member.

Sad development indeed. But this is a result of what happened more than 20 years ago when Pres. Cory, through the 1987 Constitution, disbanded the 2-party system and put in its place a multi-party system and the party list system. Now, every provincial or regional political kingpin could organize his/her own political party and would ally or fight other political groups for their own personal interests only. Now, we have a party list system that an extremely limited few really understand.

During the time of the 2-party system, at least people knew which politician belongs to which party. Anyone who switched parties was easily identified with its concomitant consequences. And the parties then had national reach and presence and could impose discipline (more or less) on its members and leaders.

The situation obtaining now in Sorsogon City could not have happened (or at least would have had difficulty happening) in a 2-party system.

As a consolation, at least voters can still vote for their candidates individually, i.e, vote for the candidate and not the party (except the party-list vote). So, it is now up to the voters to split their votes or not to vote at all for those that they believe are in there only for their own personal benefit.

The Lee dynasty has existed for about 30 years now. The Escuderos much longer. Dioneda must have been inspired to start his own dynasty. All for power and wealth.

kayo naman, gusto ring makatipid ang mga magkakamag-anak na nagsasabay-sabay kumandidato. Isahang labas ng pera at isahang pagod. At pag pareho nanalo dalawahang swerte.

The news today is about a potentially disastrous defect of the automated election process.

The possibility of turmoil on May 10 and after is very serious and real.

I predict, much to my dismay and regret, that the automated election process will be a dismal failure. Turbulence will certainly follow.

indeed a sad development for sorsoganons. they are again robbed of their right to good governance. what do we expect from these 'winners'? they have been there the past decade or 2..what had only improved are their personal agendas...nice cars, vast ownership of lands, more lust to power. mr chiz escudero if you want to be the next president please take this as a challenge.. clean your backyard first please!
